Our journey began nearly two decades ago in Ethiopia when our founder Menno – then a trader of organic sesame seeds – stumbled upon a hillside of beautiful coffee trees ripe with red cherries. It was love at first taste. Back home in Amsterdam, Menno hid away in his garage with a small PROBAT Roaster and experimented with the different ways of roasting his haul of Ethiopian coffee beans. Before long, he was selling small batches of coffee to delighted friends and neighbours. Bocca was born.

As little knowledge and low and late payments towards smallholders resulted in decreasing volume and quality of the coffee in this region, Menno decided to set up a new supply chain. Together with Trabocca he makes farmers independent from bureaucratic multinationals. We’re happy to now share two of those Kenyan coffees, different in taste. This AA – one of the scarcest beans available – has notes of red berries, cre

This select specialty Oolong, Si Ji Chun, is only produced in the mountainous region Nantou in Taiwan and is valued highly by tea connoisseurs around the world. It is only briefly pre-fermented and firmly rolled by hand. The short fermentation time ensures its light and fresh character, compare to other more heavy, green Oolongs.
